A St. Louis, Mo., man faces a homicide charge in the fatal attack of a co-worker with a circular saw at a River Falls-area job site. Miguel Angel Franco Navarro, 24, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide and one count of mayhem in the Aug. 6, 2018, attack that left 37-year-old Israel Valles-Flores dead, according to a criminal complaint filed Thursday in Pierce County. According to the complaint:
Multiple reports state 911 network service has resumed following an outage around Minnesota Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018. Washington and Dakota counties were included in the outage. The 911 service provider for the state of Minnesota is investigating what caused the outage, according to a Minnesota Department of Public Safety tweet.
A Woodbury man died Monday, July 23, after the vehicle he was driving collided with a dump truck north of the Twin Cities , the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office said. Alexander Hoss, 29, was driving north on Flamingo Street at 1:10 p.m. when he pulled out in front of the dump truck traveling east on County Road 10, also known as 285th Ave NW.
In an effort to get children to eat more fruits and vegetables, doctors at HealthPartners clinics in the Twin Cities and St. Croix Valley areas are busting out their prescribing pads. Through July 31 children getting a wellness exam can receive a "prescription" good for $10 of fresh produce at Cub Foods and other local grocers. The aim is to get kids excited about fruits and vegetables.

Navigating grief is anything but a straight path. So when a Hudson woman set out to make a book on the subject, she said she decided to color outside the lines — so to speak. Kim Owen Mazur's self-published book, "Losing My Reflection," is part coloring book, part journal for people to record their grief experience. The book was awarded a bronze medal this spring in the Independent Publisher Book Awards contest in the gift/speciality/journal category. We asked Mazur about the inspiration for the book and what she hopes people will get out of it.
Area counties ranked highly in their respective states based on more than 30 health-influencing factors and outcomes, according to the ninth annual County Health Rankings & Roadmaps report out this month. Washington County fared the strongest, ranking second out of 87 Minnesota counties in health factors and third in health outcomes. In Wisconsin, St. Croix County ranked fifth in the state for health factors and sixth in health outcomes.
