Girls Lacrosse: Woodbury dominates in play-in section game
Woodbury 28, St. Paul 3
Since Woodbury received one of the bottom four seeds in the section tournament, the Royals had to compete in a play-in game on Wednesday.
The No. 7 seed Woodbury faced off against No. 10 seed St. Paul at Woodbury High School on Wednesday. The Royals didn't just compete, but dominated resulting in a 28-3 win and continuing their season for one more game.
The girls lacrosse section tournament is single elimination, so the mindset is win or go home. That mindset was shown on Wednesday as the Royals kept the pressure on St. Paul early and often. That pressure led to turnovers and open lanes for the Woodbury girls to score goals and continue to add onto the lead.
Woodbury will look to carry that momentum into Friday, May 31 as the Royals travel to the No. 2 seed Minnehaha Academy at 5 p.m. for another opportunity to continue their season.
The Redhawks had a strong regular season, which earned them the No. 2 seed in the tournament. Woodbury will look to continue scoring early and often for a chance to play in the semifinals next week.
