Boys Hockey: East Ridge, Woodbury earn big wins this week

Saturday

Woodbury 4, Mounds View 0

It was a consistent night for Woodbury as the Royals scored at least one goal in every period with a 4-0 win over Mounds View.

Ayden Hooley and Kevin O'Connor started the game off with a goal each in the first period for Woodbury. Zach Lanz continued the scoring with a goal in the second period.

Finally, O'Connor scored his second goal of the game in the third period as Woodbury won 4-0.

Josh Davis was the goalie for the Royals and he saved all 26 shots for a shutout win.

Woodbury will look to continue that momentum on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. as the Royals play Park.

Cretin-Derham Hall 5, East Ridge 2

It was a close couple of periods, but Cretin-Derham Hall came out firing in the third period to take a 5-2 win on Saturday.

In the first period, Jack McVey scored the first goal of the game, but Cretin-Derham Hall tied the game up. The Raptors faced a 2-1 deficit heading into the third period.

East Ridge tied it up with a goal from Tyler Wendshau, but Cretin-Derham Hall scored three straight goals to stamp the win on Saturday.

The Raptors will travel to Mounds View on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday

East Ridge 4, Forest Lake 0

It was a consistent and strong night for East Ridge as the Raptors scored at least one goal in every period to take home a 4-0 win over Forest Lake on Thursday night.

In the first period, Tanner Johnson and Marco Troje scored the scoring for the Raptors as each of them earned a goal to make it a 2-0 game.

Then, in the second period, Nick Basten connected on a goal to make a 3-0 game. Finally, Tanner Stafne ended the game with a goal in the third period to make it a 4-0 final score.

East Ridge's goalie Tomy Ogren had a shutout tonight as he saved all 13 shots that came his way.

East Ridge will look to continue the winning streak on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 3 p.m. as the Raptors travel to Cretin-Derham Hall.

Stillwater 4, Woodbury 0

Stillwater started off the game on a hot streak and never looked back as the Ponies defeated Woodbury 4-0 on Thursday night.

Stillwater scored three goals in the first period and one in the third period to take the win.

Woodbury will return home on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. as the Royals host Mounds View for a conference game.
