Royals finish week 1-2


The Woodbury girls' basketball team finished 1-2 in a three-game, seven-day stretch last week.

The Royals defeated Suburban East Conference opponent 73-55 on Friday, Dec. 15, but also lost 69-56 at Stillwater on Tuesday, Dec. 12 and fell 58-49 at Mahtomedi on Saturday, Dec. 16.

The Royals outscored the Rangers by 14 points in the second half on their way to a conference victory. Rachel Hakes led with 20 points for Woodbury, and Solape Amusan also finished with 16 points. Hakes led with 22 points in the Royals' 69-56 loss to Stillwater, and Kassidy Mackie scored 17 points in a 58-49 loss at Mahtomedi.

Woodbury is 2-3 this season and 1-1 in conference play this season.

East Ridge

The East Ridge girls' basketball team fell to two Suburban East Conference teams last week.

Mounds View defeated the Raptors 63-39 on Tuesday, Dec. 12, and Cretin-Derham Hall also won a head-to-head matchup on Friday, Dec. 15.

Kate Burns led the Raptors with 12 points on Tuesday. Both Burns and Meaghan Rapp scored seven points in the loss to Cretin-Derham Hall.
