A shorthanded East Ridge gymnastics team fell 137-130.575 to Forest Lake in a Suburban East Conference meet on Thursday, Jan. 31, in Forest Lake.

East Ridge was without junior leader Kelly McKenzie in the meet. But, on the bright side, freshman standout Megan Trollen continued to work her way back from injury and turned in her best all-around performance of the year with a 35.125, including a 9.1 on beam and a 9.125 on the floor exercise - which were both team highs. Trollen also had the Raptors top score (8.75) on the uneven bars and scored a 8.15 on the vault.

The top score for East Ridge on the vault was turned in by freshman Karina Joiner (8.725). Her sister Jamila Joiner, a senior, was right behind her with an 8.525 in the event. Jamila Joiner edged her sister in the floor exercise, however. Jamila scored an 8.275, which was second-best for East Ridge, while Karina had an 8.0. Also, freshman Kelsey Deverell scored an 8.5 in the vault, had a solid 8.325 on the beam and turned in a 32.25 all-around score.

Next, East Ridge hosts Mounds View in its regular-season finale on Thursday, Feb. 7, in Woodbury. The meet is set for 6:30 p.m.
