The following information has been received from school or family sources.

Sarah Strand is one of four Minnesota high school senior girls awarded a 4-year, renewable college scholarship by the Minnesota Women's Golf Association Foundation.

The scholarship is based on academic performance (minimum 3.0 average), quality of character as demonstrated by civic and academic activities, and financial need. Although skill or excellence in the game of golf is not a criterion, candidates must demonstrate an interest or involvement in the sport.

Strand, who will attend Gustavus Adolphus College in the fall, is an All-Conference member of the 2009 Woodbury High School varsity girls golf team. The team placed second in the State high school girls golf tournament.

The following local students have been named to the Dean's List at DePaul University, Chicago, Ill., for the 2009 spring semester: Hillary A. Pennella (Afton), Damien T. Radtke (Lakeland), and Jordan M. Olson (Woodbury). To receive dean's list commendation, full-time students must earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or above on a four-point scale.

Kristina Nicole Clementi of Woodbury graduated with a B.S. in business from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio at spring semester commencement. To qualify, a student must be a full-time student and earn a grade point average of 3.50 or higher.

Grizzell awarded VFW scholarshipNicholas Grizzell of Woodbury was awarded the Woodbury VFW Post 9024 $1,000 Cans for College scholarship. He was selected based on criteria including grade standing, ability, character, leadership, personality and participation in extracurricular activities.

Grizzell, a Woodbury High School graduate, plans to attend the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul.

Funds for the scholarship are made possible through the community's contribution to the Post's Cans for College aluminum can recycling project with additional funding directly from Post 9024. Cans may be donated at the collection trailer located in the parking lot of Valley Creek Mall, 1750 Weir Drive, Woodbury.Cushing Academy, Ashburnham, Mass. Honor Roll for the 2009 spring term for earning a grade point average of 85 or above for the term.

Chelsea A. Campbell of Lake Elmo, a member of the Class of 2010, was awarded a letter of commendation for the 2009 spring term at Cushing Academy. Each term, a select number of students are awarded the honor by vote of the faculty "in recognition of their outstanding growth and dedicated commitment to their academic tasks."

Andrew Dittrich of Woodbury was awarded a National Mutual Benefit "National Volunteer Service Scholarship." The award is given to recognize "volunteer action in a student's community or school, and honors those dedicated to learning, as well as serving others." Dittrich graduated from the Breck School and will be attending Middlebury College in the fall.

April E. London of Woodbury was named to the Siena College, Loudonville, N.Y., School of Business Dean's List for the spring 2009 semester. She is studying management at the school. To be named to the list a student's GPA for the semester must be between 3.5 and 3.89.
