Tools for Schools: PTA efforts net Pine Hill $1K from Old National Bank
Representatives from Old National Bank presented teachers, staff, students and parents with a $1,000 grant Oct. 24 at Pine Hill Elementary School.
The grant was awarded thanks to the efforts of the school's parent teacher association. They collected the most online votes in the bank's Tools for Schools competition, which took place in September.
One school from each of the bank's 17 regions in the Midwest received a $1,000 grant based on the number of votes they generated. Pine Hill was the only school in Minnesota to win.
"The PTA here was definitely the driving force who put Pine Hill on top," Old National community relations manager Emily Michels said.
The money will help pay for a new Google Chromebook cart and a cargo of 30 laptops that could be wheeled from one classroom to another. The cost of the cart and laptops is $7,488, Pine Hill Principal Jolaine Mast said.
