Three-year, $180,000-a-year contract approved for Stillwater superintendent

Stillwater Area Schools officially has its next superintendent.

District 834 School Board approved a three-year contract for Denise Pontrelli during its April 23 meeting.

Pontrelli, who was selected as the finalist in March, currently serve as the assistant superintendent/director of educational services for Spring Lake Park Public Schools.

Pontrelli’s contract will begin July 1 and pay her a salary of $180,000 in the first year.

Pontrelli’salary will increase every year; she will be paid $183,600 for 2016-2017 school year and $187,272 for the 2017-2018 school year.

Other elements of the contract include vacation time, job responsibilities, insurance, termination requirements and reimbursements.

“The goal for this contract from the board perspective was to be transparent and open,” School Board Chairman Tom Lehmann said. “It was designed for stability, there is nothing hidden.”

“With the conclusion of this search,” Lehmann said, “we have an excellent superintendent.”
