Pedestrian struck by 2 light-rail trains in Twin Cities
ST. PAUL -- A pedestrian was injured Wednesday evening, May 23, when she was struck by two light-rail trains in St. Paul, officials say.
The woman was crossing University Avenue at Snelling Avenue about 5 p.m., when she was struck by a westbound Green Line train, which knocked her into a passing eastbound train, said Howie Padilla, a Metro Transit spokesman.
The woman was taken to Regions Hospital in critical condition, Padilla said.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation by Metro Transit Police.
“One thing we always tell people is to obey those crossing lights,” Padilla said.
The incident halted light-rail traffic for about an hour.
