Fourth of July area events planned

The Fourth of July is the time of year for food, fun, family and fireworks. Whether it's a parade, playing games with family, having barbeques or camping out under the stars watching fireworks light up the sky, the Fourth of July is a highlight of summer.

Some area Fourth of July celebrations include:

• Woodbury's Fourth of July celebration. During the celebration at Ojibway Park, 2695 Ojibway Drive, the Red Rock Swing Band will perform at 7 p.m. before fireworks light up the night sky at 10 p.m. Concessions will be sold on site.

• Afton's Fourth of July Parade will be at noon on July 4 down St. Croix Trail in Afton. Live music will be begin at 1 p.m. and games and activities will be throughout the town. For more information about Afton's Fourth of July Parade, turn to Page 4A.

• Cottage Grove Lion's Club's Fourth of July celebration will start at 6 p.m. at Kingston Park, 9195 75th Street S. in Cottage Grove, and will include games, prizes, hot dogs, brats, pop, Cold Stone Creamery ice cream, lemonade and chips for purchase, as well as a raffle. A fireworks display will begin at approximately 10 p.m..

• Stillwater's Fourth of July Celebration will start at 7 p.m. on July 4 with the Dakota Valley Pops Orchestra at Lowell Park-North, located at the corner of Mulberry St. E. & Water St. in Stillwater, and the St. Croix Jazz Orchestra at Pioneer Park, located off of 2nd St. N and Cherry St. E. Fireworks will begin at 10 p.m. at Lowell Park.

• Hastings Fourth of July celebration will host a flea market, entertainment, games, bake sale, and raffle starting at 10 a.m. at Lake Isabel Park, located on 2nd St. in Hastings. Fireworks will be shot off at the Hastings Country Club, 2015 Westview Drive.

• Oakdale's Fourth of July celebration will include a fireworks spectacular at Tanners Park, Glenbrook Avenue N. in Oakdale, starting at dusk.

• Maplewood's Fourth of July celebration will include the All American Lumberjack show, Lumberjack Youth Sport Camps, food vendors, kids games and inflatables all starting at 4:30 at Hazelwood Park,off of County Rd. C East in Maplewood. Fireworks will follow at dusk.
