Trautner sentenced, gets lengthy probation period
A former Minnesota State Patrol officer from Woodbury was sentenced Friday, July 7 for molesting a 14-year-old girl.
Scott Trautner, 41, was charged with improperly touching and performing oral sex on the girl who once baby-sat his children in December 2004.
A Washington County Judge convicted Trautner in April of first-degree criminal sexual conduct after he waived his right to a jury trial.
Washington County District Judge Thomas Armstrong gave Trautner 30 years of probation with 3,000 hours of community service. Trautner must also pay nearly $8,000 in fines and restitution as well as register as a sex offender.
In the sentencing report, Armstrong wrote, "The former trooper has no prior criminal history and now appears remorseful." He also added Trautner could respond well to treatment and could mend his ways.
If Trautner violates probation, he will have to serve 12 years in prison.
Armstrong wrote there is strong reason to believe Trautner could be victimized in prison.
