Shepherd of the Valley welcomes new pastor
AFTON — Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church installed Jeremey King as its next senior pastor on Feb. 17. He succeeds Pastor Steve Kramer, who retired after leading the congregation for 35 years.
King comes to the church after being the lead pastor at Radiant Church in Huntington Beach, Calif., since 2009. Before that, he spent more than 10 years performing various roles in congregations serving over 1,000 members.
"We came here because we felt deeply that God was inviting us to use our training and passion for serving outwardly in the name of Jesus here in the St. Croix River Valley," King said. "Shepherd has a history of loving and serving well. It is an honor to carry on that amazing legacy as Pastor Steve retires."
King currently serves as adjunct faculty at The Master's Institute Seminary in White Bear Lake and as a member of the board of trustees of the Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ synod. He received his education from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif., Luther Seminary in St. Paul and from BIOLA University in La Mirada, Calif.
Though he grew up in Southern California, King and his wife Michelle, who is a licensed family therapist, have family in Minnesota. They settled in the St. Croix Valley with their two children, Gabriel (fifth grade) and Neriyah (third grade).
Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church is located at 14107 Hudson Road S., Afton.
