Dylan joins Woodbury pianist on holiday charity CD

"A Minnesota Holiday Vol. 10" Charity CD features songs by Bob Dylan, Owl City, Brian Setzer and Kat Perkins.

The seasonal compilation was organized by Woodbury singer/pianist Phil Thompson, who is among the 15 artists represented on the CD. Contributors also include Jeremy Messersmith, The New Standards, Davina & The Vagabonds, GB Leighton, and the Blenders.

Thompson created the Minnesota Holiday series, whose past nine CDs have helped raise about $450,000 for local nonprofits.

It's available for $12.99 at Kowalski's Markets in the Twin Cities metro, including Woodbury. Sales benefit Be The Match, a national bone marrow registry. The album will also be available on iTunes and CD Baby through the end of the holiday season.

Thompson, a singer and pianist has performed at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, the MGM Grand in Macau and the U.S. Open tennis tournament in New York. He's played on cruise ships in Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean and Alaska.

William Loeffler

William Loeffler is a playwright and journalist from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He worked 15 years writing features for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. He has also written travel stories based on his trips to all seven continents. He and his wife, Michelle, ran the Boston Marathon in 2009.
