Escape Salon offers space rentals in Hudson
Area stylists have a new option for salon space, one they can call their own. Owned by Darcie and Dave Rochon, Escape Salon Suites at 2421 Hanley Road offers stylist spaces for lease.
"Each one of the stylists that are here are their own individual business," Darcie said.
They set their own prices, Darcie said, and they run their businesses in their own way.
Darcie said the salon is an option for stylists to move out on their own, or ones who live in Wisconsin and work in Minnesota to have a space closer to home.
The salon officially opened at the end of January, with an open house on Monday, Feb. 12.
The space features three double suites, five individual suites, eight semi-private salon atmosphere and one treatment room. All the areas are fully furnished.
"They just bring their tools and their products," Darcie said.
The Rochons own the building, and take care of things like utilities.
"We've really taken the biggest expense of owning your own salon," Darcie said.
Darcie has been in the industry her entire career, and she and Dave own the Fantastic Sams in Hudson, as well as a training center. They're lending their experience in the industry to those at Escape.
"These are the things you don't get that when it's just you," Darcie said.
Darcie said they have seen the desire for an opportunity like Escape provides with their own stylists and with the industry in general.
"We wanted to give stylists that opportunity to take that next step and really help them be successful in that," she said.
The set up isn't right for everyone, Darcie said. Some aren't ready for owning their own service.
"It's really about them being successful in that next step," Darcie said.
The Rochons know Hudson well, and decided this would be the place to open the new salon.
"We feel like it was a good starting point for us," Darcie said. "We know the stylist community."
They don't plan on stopping here.
"Then we're looking at New Richmond and Stillwater," Darcie said. "Two other really good markets."
As the salon gets started, Darcie said her main goal is that the stylists that rent the spaces are successful.
"Were involved, we're invested," she said. "We know the industry, we know what it takes to be a successful stylist."
