Following a stretch of unseasonably warm temperatures in February, snow is back in the forecast. A winter storm is expected to blanket the region Thursday night, Feb. 23, through Friday with a foot or more of snow in some areas, according to the National Weather Service Twin Cities office. The weather service cautions it could be the strongest winter storm of the season. Much of central Minnesota including the Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs as well as western Wisconsin were included in an updated winter storm watch Wednesday, Feb. 22.
Hundreds of so-called "Plungers" descended on Woodbury's Carver Lake Beach Saturday, Feb. 11, for the annual Polar Plunge, a leap into the freezing water to support Special Olympics Minnesota. Woodbury Public Safety led the way with the first jump, followed by scores of fundraiser teams that combined collected $87,895 for the event, according to the Polar Plunge Woodbury website .

Minnesota drivers have a new tool for checking winter road conditions thanks to cameras installed on some of the transportation department’s 838 snowplows. The cameras periodically take still photos of the road and upload them to www.511mn.org .
After it was reported this week that the closed Pizza Hut on Weir Drive and Valley Creek Road is expected to reopen in 2017, the story quickly rose to the top of the Woodbury Bulletin trending story list. Readers also took to Facebook to comment on the pizza chain coming back to the city. A post on the Woodbury Bulletin Facebook page received 21 comments and 34 “Likes” as of Friday morning, Dec. 9.
Minnesota Department of Transportation is urging drivers to plan ahead and be cautious in work zones when heading out of town for the holiday weekend. "Although major construction projects will be on hold for the weekend, motorists may still encounter lane restrictions and traffic delays," Transportation Commissioner Charlie Zelle said in a news release. "Your safety is important to us, so we ask that you plan your routes, stay alert and drive carefully in work zones."

Summer has arrived — sunshine and all those warm rays. Health professionals say it’s important to remember the sunscreen. Even in our higher latitude climate, exposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun is dangerous, said Dr. Ryan Kelly, who practices family medicine at Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing. “Exposure is affected by the distance from the sun, so areas on the equator receive a higher rate of ultraviolet light than other areas,” he explained.
