Letter: Don't reflexively bash 'extremism'
A fatuous letter in a recent Woodbury Bulletin asserted that Sixth Congressional district Rep. Michele Bachmann does not represent "all" of the residents of her district. As if any politician has ever represented everyone's views and needs, no exceptions.

Letter: Send Tinklenberg to Congress
I am writing this in support of Elwyn Tinklenberg for U.S. Congress. Despite her claims of religious morality, the incumbent Michele Bachmann is a very conservative representative who was the only member of Minnesota's delegation who did not vote to fund to combat AIDS in Africa....

Letter: Michele Bachmann is too extreme
I urge all Sixth Congressional District voters to listen to Minnesota's great republican leaders, Gov. Al Quie, Gov. Arne Carlson and U.S. Rep. Jim Ramstad on Minnesota.publicradio.org/display/web/2008/09/08/midday2/ They all say that to handle our complex issues, voters must elect...

Viewpoint: The recipe for $2 a gallon gasoline
Congress' job is to look out for you, the American people. But as these out-of-control gas prices prove, Congress is letting you down. Each day brings another ulcer-inducing, record-smashing high -- and these dizzying costs are hurting families across the country. Gas has surpassed...

Bachmann: Energy independence at $2/gallon
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and a few supporters met the media Monday morning at the Sinclair gas station off Century Avenue in Woodbury to present a plan she says will help get gas prices back to $2 per gallon. Bachmann, the Minnesota Sixth District representative to Congress,...

Letter: She'll work to keep Bachmann out
I received a flyer from (U.S. Congresswoman Michele)Bachmann telling me what Memorial Day is all about and what I should be doing to honor our veterans. Ms. Bachmann should look hard in the mirror. And the next time she has a photo-op with a veteran of the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan,...

Letter: Bachmann owes no apology
Renee Murray's attack on Rep. Bachmann (Letters, May 21) revealed what's wrong with people today: They want their government to be all things to all people everywhere. But Bachmann doesn't owe us an apology for voting against the latest fiscally insane farm bill. No politician...

Letter: What's Bachmann really done for us?
Rep. Michele Bachmann rails against all earmarks as wasteful spending in her recent taxpayer-funded mailing to voters. But while she's clearly against earmarks, she doesn't say anything about what she's actually done for Minnesota. It's all well and good to oppose pork projects,...

Viewpoint: Gov't. doesn't need to tell us what is best for ourselves
El Tinklenberg's recent Viewpoint ("Light bulb act may miss the forest for the trees," Bulletin, April 16) suggests that Congresswoman Michele Bachmann's "Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act" is focusing on a single tree rather than the entire forest. I'd like to explain to Mr. Tinklenberg...

Letter: Sound thinkers need Bachmann
Look out Michele. The Stillwater gang and their Woodbury cohorts are at it again -- this time attacking Michele Bachmann over the use of the congressional franking privilege. How infantile can they get? I, on the other hand, expect M. B. to, if not at once, at least in the very...

Letter: Tinklenberg should read 'fine print'
Contrary to El Tinklenberg's remarks in the April 16 issue of the Bulletin, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is not the one blinded or "over-engaged" on one issue. Presenting the Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act is about the big picture. It's about freedom, exercising common sense...
