Two rivals battling for position in the Suburban East Conference will square off Friday at Royals Stadium.

The matchup pits Woodbury against District 833 rival East Ridge - two teams that have struggled this season to find consistency in the win column.

What's at stake

In a word, momentum.

East Ridge comes off a two-game win streak, having beaten Roseville and Park this week at home. Prior to that, the Raptors had lost five of six games.

Woodbury, who averaged nine runs a game in three games last week, has now lost two games in a row this week - one at home to Mounds View, the other in a 2-0 road game at White Bear Lake.

Last meeting

Friday's game will be the first match-up of the year for the Royals and Raptors.

The last time the two teams faced each other was in the 2011 Section 4AAA quarterfinals, where East Ridge dispatched the Royals, ending their season.

Woodbury: 5-5 overall, 3-5 SEC; East Ridge: 4-5 overall, 4-4 SEC.
