Woodbury gymnastics: Pearson, Royals take down Hastings for season’s first win

The Woodbury gymnastics team picked up its first win of the year, beating Hastings 125.45 to 120.45 in a Suburban East Conference meet on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Woodbury High School.

Woodbury sophomore Maddie Pearson led the way for the Royals in the meet, taking first place in each event while winning the all-around competition with a total score of 33.75.

In addition to Pearson, Woodbury senior Rose Peterson earned second place in the all-around, including a second-place finish in the vault and a second place result on the beam. In addition, junior Tessa Halada earned third place on the bars and finished in second place in the floor exercise, while junior Sarah Stevens earned third place in the floor exercise.

Woodbury couldn’t make it back-to-back wins, however, as the Royals fell 135.675 to 115.375 to Stillwater on Thursday.

However, Pearson led the way for the Royals taking second place in the all-around with a season-high 34.55.
