Woodbury cross country: Royals in middle of the pack at first meet

The Woodbury boys cross-country team finished 13th and the Royals girls took 14th overall Friday at the St. Olaf High School Showcase in Northfield, Minn.

The Royals boys finished with 310 points and were led by senior Taylor Voit, who completed the 5-kilometer course in 17 minutes, 10 seconds for fifth overall. Junior Nick Wareham placed 12th overall in 17:21 while senior Nathan Orf placed 83rd in 18:43, freshman Joe Romaine took 97th in 18:52 and Dan Buchmeier took 113th in 19:07.

Chanhassen and Totino Grace both finished with 147 points to win the boys meet.

The Woodbury girls placed 14th overall at the meet with 391 points.

Eighth-grader Haley Orf led the girls with a time of 16:41 on the 4-kilometer course, good for 32nd place. Sophomore Kathleen Danielson placed 63rd in 17:22 while sophomore Katlyn Ableidinger finished 78th in 17:35, junior Cat Henning took 102nd in 18:07 and junior Julia Voss placed 116th in 18:22.

East Ridge won the meet with 70 points.

Next, Woodbury runs in an invitational at St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park on Thursday, Sept. 5.
