East Ridge girls hockey: Mounds View too much for Raptors
The East Ridge girls hockey team's winless streak stretched to eight straight games with a 7-1 Suburban East Conference loss to powerhouse Mounds View on Tuesday, Dec. 20, on the road.
Mounds View, which is ranked 16th in Class AA, scored seven consecutive goals in the game, blowing open the contest with three second period tallies.
East Ridge (2-9-1; 0-7-1 SEC) scored the first goal of the game to take a 1-0 lead 6:28 into the first period. Kayla Griffith scored the goal with an assist by Cassie Goff.
However, Mounds View (9-2; 7-1 SEC) tied the game 1-1 just over a minute later, then took a lead - one it wouldn't relinquish - with 44 seconds remaining in the first period.
East Ridge takes part in a tournament in Burnsville on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 27 and 28. The Raptors return to conference play against rival Woodbury on Tuesday, Jan. 3. Woodbury is 1-10 and 0-8 in the SEC on the year thus far. Woodbury is 2-0 historically against the Raptors. Last year Woodbury beat East Ridge 4-0 and 3-1.
