Football: Raptors win third straight over Stillwater

The East Ridge football team was steady once again in a win versus Stillwater on Friday.

The Raptors used their characteristic rushing attack to defeat Stillwater 30-7. Head coach Dan Fritze said the Raptors only attempted three passes in the game.

“Our offensive line played really well,” Fritze said. “Uncharacteristically, we had a lot of penalties. I don’t know what it was, but it held us back in the first half.”

Dominik London scored two rushing touchdowns on Friday. Grant Ryerse also knocked down a 55-yard field goal just before halftime.

Quarterback Ty Okada rushed for a touchdown, and he also passed for another touchdown to Zach Bennett.

Fritze said the Raptors do not try to focus on the results week-by-week. But he has been happy with what they have accomplished so far this season.

“We don’t really judge ours by wins and losses, we really judge it on how hard the kids are working and how focused they are during the week practice,” Fritze said. “Going off that, it has been an absolutely phenomenal season.”

East Ridge improved to 3-0 in East Metro-Blue district play so far this season. The Raptors will next play Cretin-Derham Hall at home on Sept. 30 for homecoming.
