East Ridge boys lacrosse: Raptors have playoff tune-up from Minneapolis

East Ridge found a good way to prepare for the postseason in a late-season non-conference battle.

The Raptors scored six goals in the third quarter and held off a furious comeback from Minneapolis on Wednesday, May 21. East Ridge went on to win 13-12 over a Minneapolis squad that hadn’t lost since April 19 and had only one blemish overall.

Randy Wilson led the Raptors with four goals and two assists. Additionally, Killian Wilson netted three goals, and Drew Nicholson and Jacob Wetterstrom each scored two.

Mac Webb and Grant Edwards both added goals for the Raptors. Bodie Sheehan picked up a team-best five ground balls, and Michael Elsbernd collected four.

Peyton Bixby saved 10 shots on goal for East Ridge as he endured 22 shots by Minneapolis. The Raptors out-shot Minneapolis 27-22.

Prior to the win over Minneapolis, East Ridge clobbered Forest Lake 18-0 on Monday, May 19. Randy Wilson had a team-high seven points with six goals, and Killian Wilson posted five points.

Even Woodward, Webb and Wetterstrom each scored two goals in the rout. Danny Lowe, Max Cooper and Elsbernd all had goals. Bixby earned the shut out victory with 14 saves in net.

East Ridge (10-2, 7-2 SEC) finished in a second-place tie with Mounds View to end the Suburban East Conference season. The Raptors began section tournament play this week. Brackets were not available prior to press time.
