East Ridge gymnastics: Raptors score 140.275 in first meet, nearly beat Roseville

To open the season, East Ridge nearly pulled off a major feat. 

The Raptors gave defending state champions Roseville a scare in the teams’ first meet on Dec. 5 at East Ridge High School. Roseville won the meet 141.05 to 140.275.

Carly Wagner led the way for Roseville, winning every event except for the floor exercise and took the all-around competition with a 37.7. Her teammate Isis Muller won the floor with a 9.4.

Sophomore Megan Trollen led the way for East Ridge, placing in the top 3 in every event. She finished tied for second in the all-around with a 37.05. Trollen took third in the vault (9.25), second on the bars (9.3), third on the beam (9.125) and second in the floor exercise (9.375). 

East Ridge sophomore Wren Anderson also scored well for the Raptors in multiple events. Anderson finished second in the vault (9.3), took third on the bars (9.15), was second on the beam (9.4) and tied Trollen for second in the all-around (37.05). 

In addition, sophomore Taryn Johnson scored a 9.0 on the vault and an 8.75 on the beam, seventh grader Olivia Trebesch scored an 8.7 in the vault and an 8.575 on the beam and sophomore Karina Joiner scored an 8.825 in the vault. 

Next, East Ridge takes on Hastings on Dec. 12.
