East Ridge girls basketball: Raptors bounce back, beat Roseville; playoffs next
The East Ridge girls basketball team did a great job of bouncing back last week. It would have been easy for the Raptors to give up after being beat by Suburban East Conference foe Roseville handily on Feb. 19, but that wasn't the case at all.
On Feb. 19, the Raptors fell to fourth-ranked Roseville won 62-39.
Ten total players for Roseville (24-2, 17-1 SEC) scored. Senior guard Emma Shaefer led the way with 15 points, while senior forward Larissa Graham added 11.
Not one player for East Ridge hit double-digits. East Ridge's top player this season, junior forward Jamie Swanson led the Raptors with seven points.
East Ridge could have decided to call the season quits, but they decided not to do that. Instead, the Raptors took down Cretin-Derham Hall at home, 56-49.
Senior guard Hannah Pignato led the way for East Ridge with 18 points. Senior guard Courtney Keefe added 14, while Swanson added 11 points.
Pignato has been a big part of this East Ridge squad over the last few years, and she proved it in this game.
Junior forward Jordan Alt led Cretin-Derham Hall (8-18, 5-13) with 14 points, while senior forward Hannah Howard added 10.
East Ridge finishes the regular season with a 12-14 overall record, which is the most wins the school has had in its history. The team's Suburban East Conference record was 5-13.
Up next for East Ridge is the Section 3AAAA tournament. The Raptors earned the fifth seed in the eight-team section and will play fourth-seeded Eagan (13-13) on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Eagan High School.
