Cottage Grove man jailed, faces charges in connection with school shooting threats

PWER cross-country skiers wrap up seasons at state

Three individuals wrapped up their PWER cross-country ski seasons at the MSHSL state meet on Thursday, Dec. 15 at Giants Ridge in Biwabik.

East Ridge senior Eleasha Mckenzie was the top-finisher among the three skiers in the 10-kilometer pursuit results. Mckenzie set the pace in the morning's 5-kilometer freestyle race, finishing in 92nd place with a time of 18 minutes, 45 seconds. She ended up in 93rd place on the day after skiing to a time of 20:11 in the 5-kilometer classic race for a combined time of 38:56.3.

This was Mckenzie's first chance at skiing the state meet. She qualified last season but did not have the chance to compete due to illness.

East Ridge junior Michael Kenney and senior Ethan Storm finished less than 10 seconds apart in the boys' pursuit results. Kenney finished 129th with a time of 34:48.5. The East Ridge junior finished the freestyle with a time of 16:33 and the skate in 18:15.5.

Storm placed 132nd with a pursuit time of 34:56.6. The Raptors senior produced a freestyle time of 16:48 and a classic result of 18:08.6.

Grand Rapids junior Garrett Beckrich won the boys' pursuit title with an overall time of 28:45.7 while Wayzata junior Mara McCollor won the girls' title with a pursuit time of 31:48.3.
