Eagles fall at West

The New Life Academy football team traveled to Brooklyn Park Friday, Oct. 2 to take on Minnesota Christian Athletic Association rival West Lutheran on a waterlogged night and came away on the short side of a 35-14 decision.

West built up a 21-0 first quarter lead by taking advantage of a number of NLA errors on the sloppy track.

"First quarter mistakes including penalties, defensive lapses and miscues in the punting game gave West great field position," coach Paul Mork said. "They capitalized on all three."

Not giving up, however, the Eagles sliced the host's advantage to 21-14 before the half on a touchdown pass from Karl Stenerson to receiver Cody Linton and a scoring run by Stenerson.

Unfortunately, that would wrap up the Eagles scoring on the night, while the Warriors would run for two more second-half scores to earn the 21-point victory.

The defeat dropped NLA to 1-4 on the year as they prepare to play St. Agnes next week at Concordia University in St. Paul.
