Girls' soccer: Woodbury gets first win of the season

The Woodbury girls' soccer team won its first game of the season on Thursday, Aug. 31, after starting the season with two losses up north.

Kaitlyn Bieszk scored the lone goal for the Royals in a 1-0 victory over Eastview in the team's home opener. The Royalswere 1-2 on the season after losing twice in the Great Northern Shootout tournament in Duluth.

Woodbury was scheduled to play two nonconference games on the road at Hill-Murray on Tuesday, Sept. 5, and home against Mahtomedi on Thursday, Sept. 7.


Park tied two games over the past week to move its record to 2-0-2 this season.

The Wolfpack tied St. Michael-Albertville 1-1 on Tuesday, Aug. 29, before playing to a draw at South St. Paul 0-0 on Thursday, Aug. 31.

Park defeated Kasson-Mantorville 1-0 on Thursday, Aug. 24, and also beat Apple Valley on Saturday, Aug. 26 in two road games to start the season.

New Life Academy

New Life Academy broke a three-game losing streak by winning a 4-1 game at Nova Classical Academy on Thursday, Aug. 31.

The Eagles also lost a 1-0 game at Providence Academy on Tuesday, Aug. 29. New Life Academy improved its record of 1-3 with the win.
