Woodbury boys golf: Tschida, Royals place second at Stillwater Country Club

Woodbury sophomore Justin Tschida earned medalist honors to help the Royals boys golf team take second place at their Suburban East Conference match at Stillwater Country Club on Monday, April 21.

Tschida turned in the low score on the day in the 10-team match with a 5-over par 75 on the par-70 course. As a team, Woodbury shot a 320 to finish runner-up to Hastings, which shot 317.

Tschida was Woodbury’s second medalist winner in two weeks. The previous week at an SEC match at Prestwick Golf Course, Royals’ team captain Nick Sheak was the medalist with a 71.

At Stillwater Country Club, Sheak turned in Woodbury’s second-best score with an 80. In addition, sophomore Matt Broich carded an 82 and seniors Mark Dornfeld and Mark Dahl each scored 83s to round out the Royals’ top four. Also, senior Anthony Mahady shot an 86 for Woodbury.

Woodbury also competed in a non-conference invitational at StoneRidge Golf Club in Stillwater on Tuesday, April 22. The Royals tied for fourth place at the tournament with a 313 team score. Wayzata won the tourney with a 295. Mahady turned in the low score for the Royals on the day with a 76. Tschida, Broich and Dahl each scored 79s to round out the top four. Also, Sheak shot 80 and Dornfeld shot an 81.
