The Woodbury girls basketball team will probably be happy when January is over.

The Royals have yet to win in the month of January and are currently riding a nine-game losing streak. Woodbury’s last win was on Dec. 20 against Hastings.

Most recently, Woodbury got doubled-up by Suburban East Conference rival Park in a 66-33 loss at home on Tuesday, Jan. 24, before being edged by Stillwater 45-42 on Friday in Woodbury.

Ninth-ranked Park (12-3; 8-0 SEC) opened up a 37-15 halftime lead on the Royals then cruised to the 33-point win with a 29-18 second half.

Nobody hit double figures in scoring for Woodbury (5-10; 2-7 SEC) in the loss. Ellie Kreibch and Kayla Bilski led the way with six points each.

Park’s Sydney Lamberty led all players in the game with 20 points. Lamberty, a senior, went over 2,000 career points in the Wolfpack’s win.

On Friday against Stillwater, Woodbury came back from a 28-17 halftime deficit to the Ponies (7-10; 3-6 SEC), but came up just short. The Royals outscored Stillwater 25-17 in the second half.

Bilski scored a game-high 18 points in the loss. Elizabeth Edinger chipped in seven points for the Royals. Paige Becker led Stillwater with 17 points.

Next, Woodbury is at Hastings (1-12; 0-9 SEC) on Friday.
