Woodbury girls basketball: Royals rough up Raiders to improve to 5-1

The Woodbury girls basketball team made quick work of Suburban East Conference foe Hastings on Friday, Dec. 20, in Woodbury, winning 66-26 to improve to 5-1 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play.

Woodbury (5-1; 2-0 SEC) opened up a 36-12 halftime lead over Hastings (1-5; 0-2 SEC) then outscored the Raiders 30-14 in the second half on the way to the 40-point win.

Nine different players scored for Woodbury in the win. Three players were in double figures in the well-balanced attack. Freshman forward Cecile Kieger and senior guard Kalley Hakes led the way with 15 points each and junior guard Kayla Bilski scored 13 points.

Woodbury competed in a tournament at St. Cloud Tech after the Bulletin went to press. Next, the Royals travel to rival East Ridge (3-2; 0-2 SEC) on Friday, Jan. 3. Woodbury swept the Raptors last season and lead the all-time series 6-1.
