Woodbury boys swimming & diving: Royals open conference dual meet season with win over Roseville

The Woodbury boys swimming and diving team dominated Suburban East Conference foe Roseville on Dec. 12 in a 111-75 win.

The win put the Royals at 1-0 in the conference to start the dual meet season.

Woodbury won every all but three events during the meet, and finished first and second in three events.

Woodbury won every relay event. The 200-yard medley relay of Eric Westfall, Will Ho, Brady Bennett and Garrett Norsten won the event in a time of 1 minute, 46.90 seconds.

Ho, Austin Kinzie, Eric Fong and Eric Fleming teamed up to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:37.94 and the 400-yard freestyle relay of Kinzie, Westfall, Norsten and Bennett won its race in 3:31.15.

In individual events, Kinzie won the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.91) and took second in the 100-yard backstroke (59.61); Bennett won the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.17) and finished in second place in the 100-yard freestyle (24.63); Norsten topped everyone in the 500-yard freestyle (5:20.05) and was third in the 50-yard freestyle (24.74); Westfall touched the wall first in the 100-yard butterfly (58.52) and in the 100-yard backstroke (59.30) and Ho earned first place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.26).

In the diving competition, Woodbury’s Ian Carr placed second (161.40), Nick Gartner was third (136.65) and Mark Spannbauer took fourth (122.45).
