Community Education winter sports sign-up

Winter is quickly approaching and District 833 Community Education is gearing up for its Middle School Athletics Program. Brochures were dropped off at Cottage Grove, Lake, Oltman, and Woodbury middle schools during the first week of October. Sports include: Seventh and eighth grade boys and girls basketball and boys wrestling (grades 6-8). Registrations will be on a first come first serve basis. East Ridge dance team one-day tryout Oct. 21

The East Ridge dance team is holding a one-day tryout to join the winter dance team. The tryout is Monday, Oct. 21 from 3:30-6 p.m. in the second floor Gold Commons. To tryout, winter registration must be completed, including the physical. Please be ready to dance. Girls should have a dance background and be ready to work. The team is competitive and practices four days a week. There will be a mandatory parent/dancer meeting on Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. for all team members.

Hale to the Bird 5K fundraiser run Thanksgiving morning

The fourth Hale to the Bird 5K run, benefiting the Friends In Need Food Shelf, will be held 9 a.m. Thanksgiving day (Thursday, Nov. 28) at Hamlet Park in Cottage Grove. The race is open everyone no matter what age or skill - the event is for both walkers and runners. Cost is $20 before Nov. 8 and $30 after Nov. 8, including on race day. All those East Ridge High School boundary girls interested in playing lacrosse should register on the East Ridge girls lacrosse website to stay up-to-date on important information. East Ridge traveling softball tryouts

East Ridge Athletic Association traveling softball tryouts for the spring and summer of 2014 will take place Oct. 5 and 6 at the East Ridge High School softball fields (Black 35 and 36). Rain location will be the ERHS gym.

The teams are open to any girls who reside within the East Ridge High School attendance boundary areas of Cottage Grove, Afton, Newport, Denmark Township and Woodbury. The ERAA also offers a number of pitching, hitting, and fielding clinics throughout the winter months. These clinics are conducted by the East Ridge High School Softball coaching staff. No additional fees are charged to attend these clinics if you are a member of the ERAA program. For those not interested in traveling softball or are new to the game, East Ridge Softball also offers recreational teams with a primary focus on learning the fundamentals of softball. This league runs from May to July and plays in a league with teams from CGAA, WAA, Newport and Oakdale. Registration for our in-house program will open in early February.
