Legion baseball: East Ridge takes down St. Paul Park

East Ridge second baseman Zach Wahl attempts a throw while falling down Wednesday against Mahtomedi.

The East Ridge American Legion baseball team picked up a pair of wins last week by beating St. Paul Park Tuesday and Mahtomedi Wednesday at East Ridge High School.

East Ridge defeated Park 9-1 with starter Drew Molin throwing a complete game victory, which made up for a 6-5, nine-inning loss Monday against Oakdale.

East Ridge went on to beat Mahtomedi 7-2 Wednesday to earn back-to-back victories for the first time this season.

Sam Cobbs started for East Ridge and battled through control issues but kept Mahtomedi at bay. Cobbs went 5 1/3 innings, gave up three hits, walked four and struck out three.

Ryan Gregory paced the offense with a 4-for-4 day with a double and two runs. Carter Stoehr drove in three runs with a double and finished 2-for-4 with a stolen base.

Stoehr also closed the game out on the mound, going 1 2/3 innings, striking out two while giving up just one hit.

Molin and Carter Stoehr had RBI base hits for East Ridge. Stoehr blasted a double to the wall in left field to score two runs.
