Football: East Ridge, Woodbury even out records to 1-1
Providence Academy 55, Academy Force 6
It was a tough afternoon for Academy Force as the team drops to 0-3 on the season. Providence Academy's Jeff Ekiyor took over early with four straight rushing touchdowns and took the lead 34-0 going into the second quarter.
Cooper Falteisek scored the only touchdown for Academy Force early in the second quarter with a 67-yard rushing touchdown. Academy Force was down 53-6 at the half as Providence Academy scored two points in the entire second half to finish the game with a 55-6 final score.
Academy Force will travel to St. Paul Johnson on Friday, September 14 at 4 p.m.
East Ridge 45, Stillwater 24
The Raptors were able to even out their record to 1-1 after defeating the Ponies in their home opener on Friday night.
It was a big night for three of East Ridge's players including quarterback Zach Zebrowski, running back Kendall Moore and wide receiver Alex Larson.
Zebrowski finished the night with three passing touchdowns and all of them coming in the first half of the game. Two of those touchdowns went to Larson, including a 37-yard touchdown.
Moore took over the game in the second half with three rushing touchdowns in the third quarter. All three touchdowns came from less than 10 yards out, but it gave the Raptors a 45-17 lead, which ultimately gave them the win.
East Ridge will look to continue the winning streak as the Raptors stay home and host White Bear Lake at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 14.
Roseville 27, Woodbury 7
The Royals weren't able to keep the momentum going from last week's win against Farmington as Woodbury fell to Roseville 27-7.
The Royals were down 20-0 in the first half and scored one late touchdown in the fourth quarter as Drew Pearson ran in for a 2-yard touchdown.
Woodbury will look to improve its record to 2-1 next week as the team travels to the University of St. Thomas to play Cretin-Derham Hall at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 14.
