The New Life volleyball team won a pair of conference matches last week, winning both 3-0 against rival Maranatha Christian on Tuesday, and Lester Prairie on Thursday. The Eagles were then invited to the Class 1A Showcase tourney at Northern Lights, which featured most of the top 12-15 Class A teams from around the state. The Eagles did well, going 3-3 in the event and earning seventh place.

“Considering we are starting all ninth and 10th graders, I am really happy with how these girls are competing,” New Life head coach Wally Bomgren said. “We were easily the youngest team in this strong field, and to win three of these matches is impressive. These girls have a love for the sport and a drive that allows them to compete with older more experienced teams.”

The Eagles take an 11-6 record into this week’s match with conference rival Heritage Christian Academy and, beyond that, into the annual Cretin-Derham Hall tourney.

“All these matches this week will be another good test for us, and will hopefully help us prepare for sections," Bomgren said.
