The Battle of Cottage Grove Ice Arena takes place tonight - Thursday, Jan. 17, at 7:30 p.m. - when rival boys hockey teams from East Ridge and Park faceoff.

In East Ridge and Park's last intra-district and Suburban East Conference showdown - a 5-2 win by East Ridge - the two teams combined for 79 penalty minutes.

East Ridge holds a 4-2-1 advantage all-time in the two teams' series since the new Woodbury-based school opened in 2009.

This year, East Ridge is 7-7-2 and 3-4-2 in the SEC and Park is 2-11-1 overall and 1-6-1 in the SEC.

East Ridge wingers Jack Greeley and Derek Hammer lead the Raptors in scoring on the year with 17 points each. Greely, a senior, has six goals and 11 assists and Hammer, just a freshman, has nine goals and eight assists. Other Raptors to watch include senior wing Ian Penvose, who has nine goals and seven assists for 16 points and junior center Jacob Nickloff, who has six goals and nine assists for 15 points, along with senior defensive leader Ryan Karrow.

Park seniors Nick Moser, Chris Peterson and junior Eric Stoffel led the Wolfpack's offense. Moser and Stoffel are tied for the team lead in points with 12 and Peterson has 11. Moser leads the team with six goals. Other Park players to watch include senior forward Cody Newton, who has nine points on the year, and senior Russ Damsgard, who anchors Park's defense.
