State tournament time for Warriors

The Woodbury 35-and-over amateur baseball team prepped for its return to the North Star Classic League State Tournament by means of a 5-4 defeat of Menomonie, Wis. on Tuesday, Aug. 10 at the Bielenberg Sports Center.

The victory improved the Warriors to 28-4 on the season as the squad looks to the opening weekend of State play on Aug. 20-22.

Woodbury carries a No. 2 seed into the Class AA bracket -- the superior bracket of State play -- a position that has earned the Warriors a first-round bye.

Second-seeded Woodbury will play either the No. 7 or No. 10 seed in the second round of State at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Alimagnet Fields complex in Burnsville.

The Warriors are guaranteed at least two games in the double-elimination format. Win or lose, Woodbury's second game would be at Alimagnet on Sunday, Aug. 22.
