The South Washington County girls hockey team snared its first Suburban East Conference victory and handed their southern neighbors from Park loss No. 1 of the 2009-10 season as the Royal Raptors topped the Wolfpack, 2-1, at the Cottage Grove Ice Arena on Tuesday night.

South Washington County forward Alexa Jacobsen scored once in the first period and again in the second frame to sandwich a goal by Park forward Allie Thalhuber in the opening stanza before a lively third period passed without further tally as the visitors claimed the one-goal win.

Forwards Emily Moris and Rachel Letche, and defender Clare Shaw recorded assists for SWC, while Thalhuber's score was unassisted.

Royal Raptors goaltender Katie Ahmann made 24 saves, including several clutch stops in the final minutes that included a 6-on-4 Park advantage in the final 20 seconds. Her Wolfpack counterpart, Allie Morse, logged 22 saves in a hard-luck defeat.

The victory improved the Woodbury-East Ridge conglomerate to 3-1 on the season and 1-1 in the SEC standings, while Park fell to 4-1-1 overall and 1-1 in the league.

South Washington County heads to Tartan for a non-conference matchup on Thursday night before hosting SEC overlord Roseville -- ranked second in the state Class AA coaches poll -- on Friday at the Bielenberg Sports Center.

Park is off until Saturday, when the 'Pack go on the road to face Mounds View.
