East Ridge sophomore Garrett Verhoeven gets set for a race against Park. The Raptors beat Park 110-70, taking first place in each event in the meet.

Two more meets. Two more wins for the East Ridge boys swimming and diving team.

East Ridge took on two fellow Suburban East Conference teams - Forest Lake and Park - last week and won both meets, running its dual meet win streak to 12 straight.

First, East Ridge traveled to Park, a meet the Raptors won 110-70. The Raptors next traveled to Forest Lake, where they won the meet 104-64.

East Ridge won every event of the Park meet, and there were four events that the Raptors placed first, second and third. Those events were the 200-yard freestyle, the 200-yard individual medley, the 500-yard freestyle, the 100-yard backstroke and the 100-yard breaststroke.

Sophomores Kent Rabideaux, Aleksander Holleran and Garrett Verhoeven placed first, second, and third respectively in the 200 freestyle. Junior Sam Scholz, sophomore Pierce Firebaugh, and freshman Alex Heide were the top three, respectively, in the 200 individual medley. Verhoeven, Firebaugh, and freshman Tyler Langstraat placed top three, respectively, in the 500 freestyle and Scholz, Langstraat, and junior Joey Trevis placed first, second, and third, respectively, in the 100 backstroke. In the final event of the meet, the 400 freestyle relay, East Ridge attempted to break the pool record at Cottage Grove Middle School, held by a team from St. Thomas Academy. The team of sophomore James Tidd, Rabideaux, Holleran, and Verhoeven succeeded in breaking this record. The record had previously been 3 minutes, 24.73, and the Raptors set it as 3:20.36.

East Ridge continued on this record-breaking trend in the first event of the second meet of the week at Forest Lake. The 200 medley relay team of Scholz, Tidd, Rabideaux and Verhoeven set the record with a time of 1:40.93. However, it was not the only record set on the night. Tidd also matched the pool record in the 50 freestyle, with a time of 22.20 seconds.

East Ridge also won every meet at the Forest Lake meet. These wins included: Firebaugh in the 200 freestyle, Rabideaux in the 200 individual medley and 100 freestyle, Tidd in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, Verhoeven in the 500 freestyle, Scholz in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke, and all three relays. In addition to the record-breaking medley team, the 200 freestyle team of Tidd, Rabideaux, Holleran and Firebaugh, and the 400 freestyle relay team of Holleran, Firebaugh, Verhoeven, and Scholz won their respective relays.

This week, the Raptors take on district rival Woodbury at home. The meet will be on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 6 p.m. at Woodbury Middle School.
