LETTER: By donating food or funds, you can support your local foodshelf during campaign
March brings more than high school hockey and basketball tournaments. March also marks the month-long, statewide food and funds drive sponsored by MN FoodShare. The Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf (CCEFS), as part of the MN FoodShare March Campaign, is working with area businesses, faith communities, and fraternal organizations to help fight hunger in our community. The March campaign has a two-fold purpose, increase awareness of food insecurity in our state, and help local food shelves raise food and funds to support their year-round operation.
CCEFS, located here in Woodbury, serves over 500 households each month. In 2014, we distributed nearly 500,000 pounds of food and personal care items to those in need. As a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, we are critically dependent on the generosity of the community to support our ongoing operation. Our goal for the March campaign is to raise a combined total of 70,000 pounds of food and donated dollars. As an added incentive, every donation in March will be proportionally matched by MN FoodShare. Every donation works even harder!
So please help us help those in need. Area churches and businesses will be hosting drives. Please support them or you can donate to us directly. CCEFS has a drop-off barrel at the Woodbury YMCA. Or feel free to drop off your donation at our location, 7380 Afton Road, during our operating hours: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays; 1-7 p.m. Thursdays; or 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Fridays. During the month of March, we will also be open to accept donations from noon to 1 p.m. every Sunday. Monetary donations can also be made at our website, christiancupboard.org.
Thank you for your support.
