Candidate Viewpoint: Tracy Brunnette

By Tracy Brunnette

Hello. My name is Tracy Brunnette and I am running for re-election to the District 833 School Board. I am passionate about education. It is the best investment we can make in our future.

My work with ECFE, PTA, and district committees, as well as my school board experience, has provided me with the opportunity to advocate for this important issue. As a board member, I will continue to make the best decisions I can to support student achievement for all students in District 833. We need to make sure every student receives the best education we can provide.

With the support of the community, the board, and the administration, we offer more opportunities than ever for our students. I truly believe that if students are given the opportunity to discover their passions and succeed, that confidence will carry over into all areas of their education and their lives. I am excited about the new T3 initiative. The vision for this initiative is to provide personalized learning for students and teachers in District 833 with a goal of providing a world-class, personalized learning experience for all students. The use of iPads provides students more flexibility and allows them to be more self-directed. Teachers can create personalize learning systems to prepare all students for success. By providing our students with this technology, they will have the most current information at their fingertips. Our world is changing so quickly. The way we teach our students needs to change, too, and this is a great first step.

I learned at a workshop at the national school board convention that we are educating our students today for jobs that don’t even exist. It is imperative that we give our students the skills they need to be lifelong learners so they can be successful in the jobs they will be applying for in the future. I am proud of what we have accomplished and would like to continue to advocate for education on behalf of District 833. Please vote for Tracy Brunnette on Nov. 5. Thank you.
