Cottage Grove man jailed, faces charges in connection with school shooting threats

Dale A. Cook, 74, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. At Dale's and the family's request, there will not be a formal service. Burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN, with full military honors on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at 10:45 am.

Dale was born to Erwin and Lorraine (Roebuck) Cook in Minneapolis, MN. He graduated from Spring Lake Park High School and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy in December 1960, where he was stationed on the USS Independence. Dale was honorably discharged after serving his country for three years, eight months and twenty days in September 1964. Dale married Sandra Rosengren (Shanley) and had two daughters, Tracy and Aleisha. Dale's early work life was with Coca Cola, then Deli Express, and then 20+ years working as a route driver for Old Dutch.

Dale enjoyed spending time with his brothers, parents, daughters, nieces, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters. He loved cooking, photography, vintage movies, and talking about life in general.

Dale is survived by his daughter Aleisha Ann Cook (Jay Haapala) of Woodbury, MN; brother David Cook of Minneapolis; grandchildren Kellee Oquendo, Paige Lee, Emma Lee; great-grandchildren Adriana Oquendo and Cammie Oquendo.

Dale was preceded in death by daughter Tracy Lynn Cook; brother Todd Cook; mother Lorraine Rudd (and her husband Arthur Rudd); and finally, his father, Erwin Cook.

In lieu of a service and flowers, Dale has requested that donations be made to his granddaughters and great-granddaughters' college funds. Donations can be made at
