John Stewart, Woodbury

John F. Stewart, 80, Woodbury, died Sunday, April 9, 2006.

John was born July 2, 1925, to Grace and Sam Stewart in Miles City, Mont. where his family was active in ranching. He graduated from Montana State University in Bozeman.

In 1950 John married Sara Miles, who in 1979 preceded him in death. In 1981 he married Patricia Bleth Kasper. John lived in Deephaven, Minn. for 18 years while working at MDU Resources Group Inc. In 1968 he moved to Bismarck, North Dakota with MDU where he retired as Vice President of Corporate Communications in 1988. He then worked with the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation as Director of Development. John coached baseball and hockey for many years and was active in many civic organizations in Bismarck. In 1986 John and his wife Pat represented the Bismarck Chamber of Commerce at the Minneapolis Aquatennial and at the Midosuji Parade in Osaks, Japan.

John loved to sing. He was Daddy Warbucks in a production of Annie. He was also an avid gardener, cook and golfer.

He is survived by his wife Pat; his sons David (Bev) Stewart and Doug (Teri) Stewart; daughter Suzanne (Steve) Ley; Pat's children, Kathy (Dave) Stewart, Ronda (Mike) Kincheloe, Tom (Sherry) Kasper, Lora Kasper (Bill Weimer), Terry Kasper; his 17 grandchildren; brother-in-law Jack McCullolugh; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Charles, Sam and Robert and his sister Dorothy.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 12. Interment at Fairview Cemetery in Bismarck, N.D.
