An educator from California will be the next Head of School at New Life Academy in Woodbury.

Clark Gilbert will assume the leadership role for the 2017-18 academic school year.

Gilbert succeeds Cade Lambert, who in February 2016 accepted an offer as superintendent of a private Christian school in his hometown of Des Moines, Iowa.

The New Life Academy Governing Council hired NL Moore and Associates to conduct a national search.

Gilbert previously served as head of school at Tri-City Christian School in Vista, Calif. Before that, he spent 22 years at Santa Fe Christian School in Solana Beach, Calif., where he served as a teacher, athletic director, high school vice principal and middle school principal.

Gilbert obtained a master's degree in education administration from San Diego State University and a bachelor's degree in history and secondary education from Wheaton College in Illinois. His wife, Beverly, is currently director of professional development for a national charter school organization.
