PWER Nordic Skiing: PWER competes at Mesabi invite

At the largest Nordic ski meet in the nation — the Mesabi Invitational — the PWER program showed progress across the board en route to a 21st place finish on the boys side and a 15th place finish on the girls side.

It wasn’t exactly the standout performance that’s going to push the PWER program into the upper echelon of the Nordic ski ranks. That said it showed that the team is continuing to grow.

Grant Davis had the best performance of the competition on the boys side as he finished 31st in the classic race. Paul Henning was right behind him in 41st place.

PWER coach Joe Wacker said before the season that Davis and Henning were going to have to step up this season, and that pair appears to be following orders.

In the freestyle race Jacob Fabro was a standout as he finished in 52nd place to lead the PWER team.

Kathleen Danielson led the PWER program on the girls side as she finished in 16th place in the classic competition. Megan Schiferl was right behind in 25th place. Olivia Hummel placed 50th in the freestyle competition.
