Fenton introduces bill to improve safety at I-94, highways 494/694
On Monday, March 16, 2015, Representative Kelly Fenton, R-Woodbury, introducedlegislation to study safety improvements at the interchange of Interstate Highways 94, 694 and 494 in Woodbury. The bill has bipartisan support.
"Where Highways 94, 694 and 494 meet is a busy and too often dangerous interchange for Minnesota and Wisconsin drivers," said Rep. Fenton. "Requiring the Minnesota Department of Transportation to do this study and cost analysis will jumpstart upgrades to this stretch of highway in Woodbury. Improving our roads and infrastructure continues to be one of my top legislative priorities, and I am pleased this bill has gained strong bipartisan support."
The highway interchange in Woodbury is the second most traveled in the state, and many accidents including car crashes and semi-trucks overturning happen there each year. If signed into law, the study would provide specific recommendations for safety improvements and cost estimates to implement those changes.
The bill has been referred to the House Transportation Policy and Finance Committee.
