Afton's city administrator is looking for work in a nearby Washington County community.
Ron Moorse, who was hired on full-time as Afton's top administrator in September 2012, is one of four finalists for a similar job in Bayport.
Dave Unmecht, a search consultant for Bayport, confirmed Moorse is a finalist for Bayport's city administrator job. The other three finalists are Michael Ericson, an economic development consultant for the city of Maplewood, William Tetracek, city administrator for Fox Lake, Wis., and Logan Martin, who works in community development for the city of Oakdale.
Bayport City Council completed its interviews of the finalists on Monday, June 10, Unmacht said. He said council members should have a final decision by the end of next week.
Before coming to Afton in April 2010, Moorse, of Burnsville, worked as city administrator for the cities of Arden Hills, for two years, Orono for 17 years, and Roseville for 10 years.
In January 2011, Moorse took on the position of government affairs consultant for Afton, when then-assistant city administrator Sarah Irvine was promoted to city administrator.
In February 2012 Moorse returned to his interim city administrator position when the city and Irvine parted ways.
This is not the first time Moorse has looked for work outside Afton. Moorse, who served as Afton's government affairs consultant and interim city administrator, was a finalist in April 2012 for the job as Becker County (Minn.) administrator. He was turned down for that job.
In June 2011, while working as Afton's government affairs consultant, Moorse was chosen to be interviewed for the city administrator position in Farmington.
