Multi-family units slated for Garden Gate area

Woodbury Planning Commission approved Monday, June 3 a new multi-family development near Settlers Ridge Parkway.

Eastview Place will have 74 attached units, located north of Eastview Road and west of Settlers Ridge Parkway.

The property is zoned high density on the city's land-use plan. Centra Homes will soon begin building the multi-family units there.

According to city staff, the development was originally approved as part of the overall Garden Gate 70-acre site.

The first phase, Garden Gate Gables, located south of Eastview Road, is fully built at 97 small-lot single-family homes.

The second phase, which is the one seeking current approval, was originally approved in 2004 and included a 91-unit apartment building and 228 multi-family condo units in six buildings (The Retreat), along with 40 long-term affordable townhomes.

One condominium building (38 units) and 34 of the 40 Habitat for Humanity townhomes have been built to date.

In 2007, The Retreat portion was modified to allow for construction of 104 multi-family units. City staff said the project did not move forward with construction activities and the approvals have since expired.
