Hargis appointed by Dayton to Met Council nomination team
Former Woodbury Mayor Bill Hargis was named Friday to a seven-person panel that will recommend Metropolitan Council appointments to Gov. Mark Dayton.
The panel, named by Dayton, will select candidates to be interviewed at a series of public meetings and recommend finalists for each of the 16 council districts. Itasca Project Transportation Committee Co-Chairman Jay Cowles will lead the nominating committee.
The Met Council is the region planning agency that operates the regional bus and rail system, collects and treats wastewater and plans regional parks.
Former Washington County Commissioner Myra Peterson of Cottage Grove has said she is seeking a spot on the Met Council.
