Fila files for Stillwater School Board seat
Jon Fila announced his candidacy Aug. 9 for the Stillwater School Board. The teacher of 18 years listed school safety, innovation, accessibility and career readiness as the focus of his campaign.
“There are voices in the district struggling to be heard, and in some cases, people don’t even know the right questions to ask,” Fila said in a news release. “We have a lot of challenges, and a lot of opportunities in this district. I want to make sure that all students get the support they need to succeed.”
Fila and his wife, Nicole, live in Stillwater, and their four children are enrolled in Stillwater Public Schools.
Fila joins a field of five other candidates running for four at-large School Board seats in the Nov. 6; they are Matthew Cooper, Donald Hovland, Shelley Pearson, Tina Riehle and Liz Weisberg. The filing period ends Aug. 14.
